The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health follows the sports world offered condolences for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
